Calgary-Acadia is a community built by people who have stayed, worked, raised families, and taken responsibility for their homes and neighbourhoods over decades. My approach reflects that. I have lived in this community for over 50 years, and I am running to represent it with the same consistency and directness that has defined my life here.
I want Calgary-Acadia to remain a place where people can build and maintain a stable life. That means a community where families feel secure, local businesses can operate without unnecessary pressure, and decisions affecting this area reflect the priorities of the people who actually live here. Representation should come from within the community, not be imposed from outside it.
Effective representation starts with being present and listening. I have spent time speaking with residents across the area and understand the day-to-day concerns that come up repeatedly, affordability, public services, and the pressures on households trying to stay ahead. Those are the issues that should shape decisions, not abstract frameworks or outside agendas.
Calgary-Acadia is made up of long-term homeowners, working families, and small business owners. My background reflects that environment. I have spent decades working in commercial real estate, managing properties, budgets, and tenant relationships, and I have also operated a small business locally. That experience is grounded in the same practical realities people here deal with every day.
Representation carries responsibility. It requires clear communication, consistent decisions, and ongoing accessibility. The role is to represent the community directly and to remain accountable to it over time.
My focus is straightforward, to provide Calgary-Acadia with steady, locally grounded representation from someone who has been part of this community for more than five decades.
Rooted in Acadia. Steady, Accountable Representation
My Vision For Calgary Acadia
Jeevan Mangat has built his life in Calgary-Acadia over more than five decades. Since arriving in Calgary in 1970, he has remained rooted in the same community, attending local schools including R.T. Alderman Junior High and Lord Beaverbrook High School before going on to graduate from the University of Calgary with a degree in Civil Engineering.
He and his wife Nina have been married for over 40 years and have raised their two sons here in southeast Calgary. His connection to the community is not recent or abstract, it is where he has lived, worked, and built his family over the long term.
Jeevan’s career has been built in commercial real estate, where he has spent decades managing and leasing industrial, retail, and mixed-use properties. His work has involved overseeing budgets, working with tenants and local businesses, and managing day-to-day operations across large property portfolios.
In the 1990s, he and his wife owned and operated The Maharaja Restaurant in Willow Park Village, giving him direct experience as a small business owner and a practical understanding of the pressures facing local entrepreneurs.
He has also been involved in the community through volunteer work with organizations such as Kids Cancer Care and Children’s Wish, and through leadership in education, including serving as Chairman of Third Academy.
Jeevan is seeking the UCP nomination in Calgary-Acadia to represent the community where he has lived for over 50 years, with a focus on practical experience, long-term commitment, and a direct understanding of the people and businesses that make up the area.
